One & Only Penthouse goes with 4ward-design

One of South Africa’s most exclusive and expensive properties, the opulent penthouse atop the One & Only Hotel, now boasts a world-class home automation system thanks to the recent installation by industry leaders, 4ward-design.Enjoying an unrivalled position in the heart of Cape Town’s Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, the double-storey penthouse features wraparound terraces which offer 360 degree views of one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Comprising 4 en-suite bedrooms, several reception rooms and two swimming pools, the 1300m² penthouse boasts exquisite finishes and an interior design which does justice to the stunning vistas of Cape Town’s skyline.

“This is a unique property offers a level of luxury accommodation and amenities which are on a par with the best anywhere in the world” comments Darryl Katz, owner of 4ward-design. “After a 16 year history in the forefront of the Home Automation industry, our company is in the perfect position to offer the necessary expertise to design and install a control system that incorporates the most modern technology available.”

Given the no compromise approach to quality, ease of use, and aesthetics, Control4 was ultimately selected by 4ward-design as the control system of choice. A combination of strategically placed, 7″ wall mount touch panels and dedicated iPads offer a seamless interface between the owner’s desires and the various control systems throughout the penthouse.

A total of three Home Theatre systems were installed and all comprise a combination of Monitor Audio Soundframe speakers and Voldyne subwoofers which are all powered by Denon’s Airplay enabled Receiver amplifiers.  Lutron Lighting systems – the same company employed for the lighting solutions in the Guggenheim museum Barcelona and also London’s St Paul Cathedral – were selected for their extensive lighting system and their unique shading solution.

“You can’t help but have your breathe taken away when you walk through this spectacular penthouse,” remarks Katz. “It was a privilege for 4ward-design to be selected for this unique project, and I am very proud of our whole team who once again surpassed the client’s well informed expectation by delivering a world class solution in terms of technology, aesthetics and upgradeability.”

Integrated Systems Europe 2014

Remaining at the forefront of the technology evolution is not easy, specifically from a country like South Africa that geographically is situated thousands of kilometers from the traditional technology hubs of Europe or the States. Technology trade shows are therefore important annual events bringing together manufacturers, distributors and integrators. In our view no trade show is more important to our industry than Integrated Systems Europe hosted in Amsterdam in Feb 2014. A small group of 4ward staff members will be traveling to the show for a variety of reasons. Seeing and playing with the latest technologies, understanding the latest global trends and training on design software such as D-tools are just some of the reasons for traveling to ISE. We will keep you post
