The SWC is in full swing and I think that so far South Africa has showed that it is capable of pulling off a world class event. Its still early days but I am optimistic that this SWC will be remembered for its unique qualities that only Africa can deliver. Whilst I have been a bit disappointed with the quality of the games I have been very impressed with the quality of our broadcast. Watching games broadcast in HD on a full HD system is something special. I also went to the V&A Waterfront to experience Sony's 3D demostration. Personally I wasn't that impressed and the consensus at 4ward amongst our sales and technical staff is that 3D still has a long way to go before it becomes a practical consumer offering.

Finally the guys at Lutron in the US responded to our complaints regarding price point. They have now released this fantastic new product range that is definitely suited for South Africa and African markets alike. Quality of the product is as you would expect from Lutron.

The product is feature rich with advantages such as control and maintenance capabilities via an iPhone and iPads ensuring that the client can maintain the installation and system once 4ward have completed the installation. No more need for special software and a wired connection to make small changes.

This will be the 3rd newsletter in a row that we have featured a product by Monitor Audio. No we don't get extra points or rebates selling the stuff but its just so damn impressive compared to other products in this price point. This month we take a look at Monitor Audio's Apex Range.

Basically the Apex range is a compact sub/sat system jam packed with Monitor Audio's most advanced technologies. This compact A10 satellite speaker looks great in its rigid die-cast alloy and white or black piano- lacquered cabinet. Build quality is excellent with the most outstanding feature being the warm reproduction of mid to low-end frequencies. Ideal recommendation - Couple the A10 satellites with the A40 center channel and AW12 subwoofer and power with Arcams Solo Movie 5.1 (to be featured next month)

While the worlds soccer loving population were making plans to view the top nations challenge each other for glory of the FIFA world cup another far more challenging event was taking place in Cape Town. The top 6 architectural firms went head to head in a 6 week knockout event with the final taking place on the opening day of the SWC.

25 year old Thamsanqa Vincent Faye or "Vince" to his colleagues has been employed at our Johannesburg branch for almost 2 years. Vince matriculated from Townview high in 2002 and then went on to study electronics from Krugersdorp Tech where he obtained a second national diploma. He has also completed Crestron Essential training and has worked in the technical field for the past 6 years specifically with CCTV / Access control. He is an avid soccer player and enjoys reading.
